Humanity Financial is Canada’s first activist accounting firm, working with charities, nonprofits, First Nations governments, and purpose driven organizations to strengthen financial capacity and long term resilience. Their previous website presented a clean and professional foundation but struggled to communicate the depth of their services or guide visitors toward meaningful action. Messaging was heavily repetitive across pages, navigation lacked clear hierarchy, and calls to action were vague, making it difficult for users to understand what to do next or how Humanity Financial could help them. Large volumes of text with little structure created cognitive overload, reducing engagement and obscuring the firm’s unique positioning as mission aligned financial experts rather than a traditional accounting practice.

Prototyping

Designing the new site required translating a complex organization, extensive service offerings, and a vast library of brand assets into a coherent, accessible digital experience aligned with the finance sector. The existing branding relied on an overly colorful palette and numerous visual elements that diluted professionalism and conflicted with user expectations for an accounting firm, so the visual language was refined to feel trustworthy, calm, and focused while still honoring the brand’s human tone. To support growth of their CNAP certification program without building a custom learning platform, the course experience was structured around Thinkific and integrated into the site as a clear conversion pathway. Content was reorganized into scannable sections, progressive storytelling, and purposeful calls to action, transforming dense text into an approachable experience that helps visitors quickly understand services, build confidence, and take the next step.
